Applying to Economics with a PPE personal statement at University of Bath

Hi there, I have applied to 3 PPE courses and I have also applied to straight economics at Bath. How much will a PPE based personal statement affect my application for straight economics?

Not quite the same but I applied to Bath last year with a PPE PS for Economics with Politics and got an offer, (Applied for PPE, Warwick, UCL & KCL, PE, LSE and EP, Bath) I'm there now and very happy with the course

Congrats on the place at bath! Could I ask what your predicted grades were and also where else you got offers from out of those 5?

Predicted's were A*A*A* (Achieved A* EPQ but only Bath take that into account) Econ/Maths/History 99998887776 Offered Warwick, KCL & Bath, rejected by LSE (PS which I actually thought was very strong!) & UCL (Strong competition) Even though I submitted my UCAS 11th Oct all replies took ages! Bath was mid Feb, KCL/LSE late April, Warwick/UCL early May

This is a very helpful insight, thank you. What made you go for Bath over Warwick in the end?

My firm was KCL and whilst they both wanted A*AA Bath offered AAA or A*AB due to my A* at EPQ so choose Bath as my insurance. I achieved AAA so didn't get KCL and was offered Bath. Warwick was my 4th choice, it's a great uni but I just preferred the feel of Bath/KCL. I'm happy I didn't get offered LSE as a friend went there and left after the 1st year (Now at Bristol) as he hated it mainly due to the massive amount of internationals that don't integrate at all, he felt like an outsider. I have no regrets and now realise that getting AAA worked in my favour as the lure of living in London was why I choose KCL as my firm but Bath has everything and more

Read - Admissions for A level students for Economics
Economics at Bath is mega-competitive and as stated on the above webpage, the PS is a critical element of your application. If it looks like you are not 100% committed to 'just Economics' then you are not likely to be a priority for an offer. One of these joint subject courses at Bath would be a far more realistic choice - Economics with Politics BSc (Hons) or Politics with Economics BSc (Hons), or at Bristol BSc Philosophy and Economics | Study at Bristol | University of Bristol
