Computer Science with Biology

I am currently in secondary school and will soon be taking my GCSEs. I have a strong interest in computer science and am hoping to study it at A-level. I also enjoy biology, and I was wondering whether there are courses or degree pathways that combine computer science and biology.
Additionally, what types of careers are available for someone who studies computer science alongside biology?

Yes, there are definitely lots of pathways and career options that combine computer science and biology.

Bioinformatics - The main field combining CS and biology. It involves using computational tools to analyse biological data, particularly genetics

Computational Biology - Similar to bioinformatics but often with more emphasis on modelling biological systems and processes.

From what I’ve seen, most undergraduate degrees are quite broad and cover a range of topics, although in some years you'll option to pick certain modules that may lean more towards a specific field. This gives you some flexibility to start specialising gradually, and then, of course, the Master's programs are going to be more specialised.
