I am going to study pharmacy in Reading University next September. How should l strengthen my biology to help my degree?
Hi,
As a third-year pharmacy student, if you’d like to review biology, I’d recommend focusing on key topics such as biological molecules, cell structure, immune response, and anatomy and physiology. Having a good understanding of these areas will make it easier to keep up with your first-year modules.

Hi there, I hope you are doing well. Congrats on your offer!
As a first year MPharm student, what I would suggest is to just go over the content for alevel biology, because what we learnt in the PM1PY2 module (fundamentals of cell biology) included topics related to Biological molecules (nucleic acids, proteins, lipids etc), cell structure and components of cell, DNA replication and structure, genetic code, enzymes, Mitosis and meiosis, Glycolisis and gluconeogenesis etc (note: these topics are considerably more detail at uni) As Tayba from LJMU has said, having a base understanding of such topics will make it a lot easier to understand the content during lectures, but please do not worry too much, as our lecturers provide a lot of support, and go over the basics, considering biology is not a requirement for MPharm so a good chunk of student might not have done biology.
Also, if you want to have a look at the two biology-related modules for year 1, you can find them here: PM1PY2 (Semester 1), PM1PY5 (Semester 2)
Hope that was helpful! Please feel free to ask here on TSR (or our Unibuddy) if you have any more questions about Reading uni or studying Pharmacy, we'd be happy to help
