Am I cooked

I applied for KCL Bsc neuroscience and psychology with a placement year and realised it is not accredited by the bps (only accredited upon meeting conditions) so I wanna switch to the psychology only but ucas won’t let me as it’s the same university I haven’t received an offer or rejection. So is there a chance I can switch. Pleaseee very desperate

2 weeks and 3 days

Oh it's too late then as it's been 2 weeks so you can't substitute your choice. Don't worry because clearing is always an option. Maybe try talking to your teachers

if u get an offer you can call the uni and ask them to change

You can’t sub a choice with the same uni anyways it can only be a different uni I realised when I tried to change it

I’m trying that ucas told me I can but I just have to call kings college I’m jus waiting for the holidays to be over
The UCAS guidance is correct, to swap a choice at the same uni just contact them directly to find out if it’s possible.

I think that so long as you actually complete all the psych modules then it is accredited. They can’t say all people come away accredited bc they might have ended up not completing or not doing there dissertation with a BPS question if thG makes sense

Hi, sorry I’ve applied to the same course at KCL and wherever I look on the the kings website it says it’s bps accredited, what do you mean by only accredited upon meeting conditions?

‘Some modules incorporate the British Psychological Society (BPS) accredited curriculum conferring eligibility for the Graduate Basis for chartered membership of the society.’ So it’s not exactly credited

Ah, I get what you mean now
However, only 50% of the modules for a course need to be accredited to get a GBC, which is the goal for any accredited bps course
And all courses have similar requirements to achieve bps accreditation, for example after 2006 if you don’t get a 2:2 or above you don’t qualify for a GBC
So I don’t think it’s a big deal

But it would mean when picking optional modules you have to pick the accredited ones otherwise I would end up having to do a conversion course

A course cannot be accredited BPS if they require the optional modules to do so, only the required modules in the course are looked at for bps accreditation
So all the modules that count toward BPS accreditation and GBC are required, not optional

We weren’t talking about the placement years we were talking about psych and neuroscience vs just psych. The placement year ones are accredited you don’t have to switch your fine

Hi!! Dw about the BPS accredited part it is accredited, when I went to the offer holders day they mentioned that in year 1 we do the psych modules which are modules that are the ones that would lead to the BPS accreditation ( hence why some classes are split in Denmark hill & Guys ) after y1 basically all the BPS courses are taken in psych and we’re good to go
