Y12 GYG : aspiring medic (hoping to avoid procrastination...)

Hey! I'm a y12 taking Bio, chem , Rs and EPQ. I have my spring assessments/ mocks as soon as we get back
My stats:
Gcses: 999999888
November assessments (highest we could get was an A) : AAB (B in RS.. the grade boundaries were HIGH)
I'm hoping to get 3 A's in these upcoming tests, so thought I would take accountability on here!
(I've lowkey been neglecting EPQ so I need to make time for that as well)

thank you!! I did most of my stuff during y11 summer holidays like shadowing a GP, carehome and I did some at a pharmacy as well. I also volunteered at my local rainbows and helped out at the covid/ flu clinics. I do other stuff in school like mentoring but these are the main ones. I'm hoping to do hospital experience and go back to the GP in the new year 🙂 🙂

If you can manage those GCSEs then A level and medical school will be a breeze.

Remove all distractions from your work-space and get keyed in to studying.

I would buy an older edition of an anatomy or physiology textbook and keep it on your desk. Any time you feel your study vide waning, flip through that book. When you are deep into the middle of medical school the information in those pages will no longer seen strange or otherworldly, it will become familiar and completely understandable. Flicking through that textbook will be like being able to see through the key-hole into the hidden world that is medicine, a kind of bright un-ending light behind a door you can't open. This is how I managed to sustain myself whilst studying for my access course (which I still maintain was harder than medicine at any point). Maybe the same kind of motivation will work for you also.

** update!!
ok so i sat my rs exam, and i think it went pretty well
i had my bio and i fear it went rly bad... i'm quite disappointed as i did revise quite hard for it. I was initially hoping for anything 70% + but now idk. Does anyone have any specific tips for bio, ESPECIALLY GRAPHS. I know the content pretty well, I just want to be able to apply my knowledge appropriately
any advice would be appreciated )

got my first mock result back (highest we can get are A's) !!
It was an A in chem, it was a solid A but not as high as I would have liked it, we only got our mark back, not our paper but I am pretty sure I lost marks in organic tbh as that was the section i did the least amount of work on.
Anyway, tonight I think i'm not really going to do much, I havent really done much (or any) after school since our exams ended. I'm going to try lock in over the weekend for bio and RS as I have started a new topic )

Sounds like you’re in a strong position already, those GCSEs are impressive. AAB in November with tough grade boundaries is nothing to worry about, and aiming for three A’s shows good focus. Make a realistic plan for your EPQ alongside your revision and you’ll be fine. Consistency over the next few weeks will make all the difference you’ve got this.
