uni applications and personal statement

my first choice is a sort of finance degrees at lse
the rest of my other choices that i wld ideally like wld be engineering at other unis like imperial, Cambridge etc

cld i apply for like engineering degrees but also finance degrees on my uni applications by focusing my personal statement on problem solving, quantitative and core skills etc rather than mentioning certain degrees or jobs, or do they want very specific and tailored personal statements to the specific degrees?

You want to focus your PS on the course/subject you've chosen to study.

Some unis will accept supplementary personal statements for people who have applied to multiple different courses so you should check this out. While you don’t need to refer to a specific degree, you do need to refer to the general subject, which isn’t really possible seeing as engineering and finance are very different.
