Durham University Admissions Statistics

Hi, I'm going to apply to Durham next year (for PPE). I looked up the admissions statistics and the offer rate seems unusually high (~80%) for a top 10 uni. Does anyone know the reasons for this? Also is Durham a well respected uni by employers?

Hi not a PPE applicant but a i loover admissions, when looking at top universities admissions like durham, you have to look st those that apply to said uni, most and not all apply to other top universities like Oxford and Cambridge and thus most of the cohort are going to have high grades amazing personal statements and refences and those that get rejected and otherwise not them...looking through those that didn't get an offer you can clearly see the difference in their stats and where they were applying to compared to those that did...hope this helps 😀 😊

Hello!

Fortunately for our admissions team, most of the applications that Durham get are great and come from the best students in the country (and world!) Therefore, a lot of the people who apply to Durham are able to get in given its reputation (not to pat ourselves too hard on the back).

Also to answer your second question, yes! Durham is very well respected by employers! The complete university guide ranks us fifth my graduate prospects (see here!) and there are so many career fairs and Durham-specific employer recruitment programmes on campus and online.

Hope this helps somewhat!
Lesath (DU Rep.)
