Lancaster vs surrey for computer science

Hi, I currently have 3 offers for computer science (exeter, newcastle, lancaster and aston) all of which are at or below my predicted grades (aston bbc, exeter a*bb or abb with firm, newcastle aab or bbb with firm + pathways program) - predicteds A*BB cs, maths, chem - and can't decide between Lancaster or Newcastle to go along with nottingham for my final two choices. I reckon lancaster has the better course but they only offer 10 weeks of industrial experience whereas surrey does a year. I'm really stuck and don't know which one to choose and would appreciate any help!

You will be invited to Offer Holder visit days - usually in the Spring Term - and these are a great opportunity to have a more considered, look around, and think about the differences between each course, and which University environment feel more comfortable and which will suit you best. Placements - how much choice do you get, do you have to find this, is it paid etc etc are important considerations. Rent etc - it will cost you far less to live in Lancaster than Guildford.

You have until early May to make your Firm and Insurance decisions and there is no advantage in making an earlier decision,. You will see a rash of 'help, I made the wrong decision' messages on TSR in the New Year from people who did not wait, and are now stuck with what they picked. Take you time to make the right decision.

Hey! I would encourage you visiting open days getting a feel first hand and talking to lecturers would give you even more insight.

Only problem is I can’t go to the offer holder days for lanc and surrey as I can only choose one of them to put on my ucas. I went to the lanc open day and liked it but the 10weeks in industry vs a year worries me for a such a competitive industry as cs. Thanks for the help 🙂
