Ive done 3 interviews, dont get worried if interviews are not friendly or do not smile, they are told to do that. Take deep breaths, if MMIs forget what happened in the station before e.g. if it went badly and you are worried, forget about it because ti works as a score so if you mess up in one theres plenty of chances to do better in another one. Definitely find people to prep with, med students are best because then they give good feedback. use MYUKCAT and go through their MMI questions they have 360 I think and its great on lots of topics. I would not recommend using CHATGPT, another human is best I personally think, maybe find other med students in your school or online and ask a question, then they give u feedback then alternate. Wear a suit if you can, looks very professional. Watch videos online, see the role-plays online. Learn the medical principles, so 6cs, 3Cs, NHS values, read GMC, all very important comes up a lot. Know hot topics, why Med, why you want to study at that particular uni. ETC, like basically go through as much as possible on myukcat they cover such a broad amount of questions, it was very useful to me.

Hi,

Congratulations on getting interviews for medical school. I am a 3rd year medical student myself and have a few pointers that may help you out.

1.

Firstly be confident and be yourself. The staff want to see who you are as a person.

2.

Make sure you're aware of the different skills of a Dr and have some volunteering or work experience examples you can use to demonstrate what you know. Make sure to reflect on your experiences in you answer (how did the Dr deal with that situation, what did you learn, how did it make you feel etc)

3.

Look over the hot topics and have an understanding of what they are and what each topic is teaching you. A few examples of hot topics are: junior doctor strikes, funding and structure of the NHS, health inqualities, obesity crisis, workforce shortages.

4.

With MMI interviews, treat each station as a fresh start. Don't take the baggage from one station to the next

5.

If you don't have someone to practice with, voice record your answers to questions and listen to them back.

6.

Try practising with a family member, friend or even a teacher at school.

I hope this helps!
Khadija
