KCL pharmacy contexctual admission

I'm currently taking a gap year and I'd like to apply for KCL Pharmacy, my predicted is ABC for biology, psychology and chemistry respectively (I am resitting bio and chem) I have a lot of extracurriculars including hundreds of hours of volunteering and I have pharmacy work experience lined up as well. On top of that I qualify for contextual admission for many reasons. I have also just been recently diagnosed and medicated for ADHD as well a receiving treatment for my hearing difficulties. I feel like I may have a decent shot but I am still afraid I may be rejected. Do I have any chance of getting into KCL Pharmacy? the only thing giving me hope is that last year I had BCC predicted and I got 5/5 offers including from a Russel group but I really don't want to give myself false hope. Should I go for it?

Whats the standard offer?
Whats the contextual offer?
Do you meet the stated requirements for their contextual offer as listed on their website?
Are your other choices less ambitious?

The Contextual offer for MPharm at KCL is AAC including grade A in Chemistry and grade A in one of Biology, Mathematics or Physics.

Your predicted Chemistry grade is therefore two grades below this basic requirement, and for a Chemistry heavy degree at a competitive University this will make an offer unlikely. If you apply, just ensure that you are ready for no, and that your other choices are more realistic.

So I am currently doing the same exact subjects as you as I applied to kings pharmacy as well. My predicted is A*AB and they rejected me a week after I submitted my UCAS application. It was because of my grades they rejected me. I'm all for following dreams and this was mine but I'm not sure whether you would be accepted. Hope this helps x

Did you qualify for contextual? I am pushing to have my predicted increased I'm not sure if it'll help at all

I meet all of the requirements for contextual offers the only thing dragging me down is the C in chem but I'm trying to have it pushed to a B i'm not sure if it'll help

Assuming that you do indeed meet their criteria for a contextual offer, this would still be AAC with As in bio and chem and the C then in psych. This means you would be 2 grades below asking in chem, which could result in a rejection but if this is your aspirational choice then thats fine, just make sure you have lots of potential choices you could go with instead 🙂 It would increase your chances at an offer if you were predicted a B in chem but only if you think thats actually achievable, an offer isnt really worth it if its based on completely unrealistic predicteds.

I do believe it is definitely achievable as I am now medicated and have been doing much better academically the issue is that my predicted was based off of last year's results and it doesn't take into account my improvement. My other choices include reading, brighton, aston uni, and maybe i was considering swapping out one of them for nottingham uni. I chose KCL as my reach I'm just afraid to be losing out a potential spot for no reason :frown:

Seems like a good idea to apply as a reach option if your other choices are less ambitious 🙂

Have they said this is the sole reason for your rejection?

They said it's due to my grades
