Is this a bad idea?

For context I am doing Scottish Advanced Highers (similar to A-Levels) in Mathematics, Mechanics, Physics and Computer Science.

I was thinking of doing some statistics courses (I have an interest in statistics related stuff), but that has made me consider doing AH Statistics alongside my current 4 AHs (making it 5 AHs total).

I would have to self-learn as there aren’t any teachers in our school for it, and it won’t benefit my uni application in any way (already submitted). But just for the love of maths should I do it or is it a bad idea?

I was thinking the same thing. I don’t have as many classes as you, I myself am doing three AH’s right now. I’m self teaching crash AH physics with no teacher, self teaching mechanics and doing Maths also. I have now completed half of the AH stats course. Honestly, it is doable, it is shorter and the maths is much less algebra and more numeracy. Also, a booklet is given in the exam that reduces the amount of formulae That need to be memorised. I think if you like it, It will be totally worth it in the end.

I have a question of myself, has your school ever ran it. Also, as I may be doing the same, have you asked them and what was their reaction?

They have not ran AH Statistics to my knowledge, due to likely low demand. Our school hasn't started up yet so I'm waiting for that then I'll probably ask. Hopefully they might allow me if I do well in prelims or something?

If you find out anything let me know.

I can't drop mechanics as I'm applying for a course that requires it. And preferably don't want to drop any of my other subjects as I am quite far into the projects on Computing and Physics.

How are you doing the project for AH Physics? And how long did it take you to get halfway through the AH Statistics course?

Since I have no teacher to help me it is quite dificult. The experiments are okay along with the calculations. The only thing is trying to get the theory correct (in precise language), it only took me 2-3 weeks for the stats course, the theory is quite easy and with the YouTube channel Zaem does stats the calculations become relatively easy.

Just wait till you get to waves interferance

Or the project research aspect

And then try revising for ur subjects whilst doing project stats and mech tbh you aren't doing 3 big advanced highers only 2 so the time for ur third that would have project and revision can be put into stats and mech
