Audiobooks for english Lit A Level

Is it okay to listen to audiobooks over reading for my set texts if it means I get it done? I am struggling with reading my school texts and reading pace. I will now be going into January having not read most of one of my books. Any advice? I also have procrastination and concentration issues, so I quite frankly do not have the time to read them between now and the end of the holidays. Thanks.

I would recommend that if you struggle to read the set texts alone, try reading them alongside the audiobook. I tried only listening to the audiobook for one of my set texts in Y12 but found that I really struggled to understand the structure, struggled to navigate the book itself and find key moments, and when there's such an emphasis on being able to recall quotes and references, seeing the words is vastly superior to hearing them. I later tried reading alongside the audiobook and felt like it helped me muscle through, albeit slower than I would've been if I had just read it normally. For issues with reading pace, most platforms you find audiobooks have options to slow down or speed up the audio. I did this to match my reading speed, but also to allow time for me to actually process what I was reading. Remember to pause if you feel yourself glazing over and not taking it in! Take a break, maybe have a treat, then knuckle down again. But as a bonus, I found that both listening and reading at the same time helped to cement the book in my memory.

Unfortunately, getting through these books is a part of the English Literature grind, but on the plus side you only really need the read the whole thing once, then you can revise it in chunks. I understand the pain though, I'm a huge procrastinator and the time pressure makes it even harder. What book is it you need to read?
