Hi @Tiana_01

Choosing the right university is hard, but I have a general list of recommendations you can use to determine the university but suited for your needs.

-Grade requirements 📖- Compare the requirements to get into each university. If it is a close decision between the two, I'd recommend choosing the one with slightly lower requirements to relieve some pressure if possible
-Placement year 🌇- It's an excellent chance to gain work experience and put you one step ahead when you exit university, so it may be worth seeing if either university offer it for your course
- Modules 📚- Head onto the university website and compare the modules for your course of interest. This way you can see which course is more closely tailored to your interests.
- Distance 🛣️- This depends on how much you value being in close distance to home, therefore varying importance to everyone.
- Quality 🎓- What's the reputation of the course? You could look at other students opinions, awards and more.
- Cost of living 💵- Which is more affordable? This could take into account travel costs or accommodation costs.

My biggest recommendation is making a list of factors that are important to you, then using this to compare the universities. Additionally it's important you try to attend an open day or offer holder day, this way you cansee what the university is like for yourself.

I hope this helps, please feel free to ask me any questions,
-Sophia (University of Lancashire)

Is this for your application or have you already received offers? What course will you be studying?

Hi, hope you're doing well.

Both the University of Bedfordshire and Liverpool Hope University are good options; however, what will be considered the best depends on what you prioritise. Now, these are a couple of points you might like to consider:

Course and quality of teaching: You must consider, as far as is feasible, the precise content of the program or modules and style of teaching that have been offered in each of the courses. Sometimes, there is one particular course that is more suitable with regard to your interests or future career.

Reputation and Outcomes: Almost all league tables rate Liverpool Hope higher for overall student satisfaction and teaching, but it is clear that Bedfordshire has industry connections and may be able to offer work experience opportunities aligned with the courses being delivered.

Location and student life: Consider the location you would like to live in. Liverpool is a great cultural place, with loads going on and many student areas. In contrast, Bedfordshire is nearer to London, and the transport links within the Southeast might make it an advantage for internships or jobs.

Support and facilities: Look at what each university offers in terms of academic support, employability services, libraries, campus facilities, and accommodation. These can make a big difference to your day-to-day experience.

At the end of the day, the best choice is the one that fits your personal priorities, whether that’s academic fit, location, support services, social life, or future plans.

Kind regards,

Faith

Hi @Tiana_01

I've just replied to another discussion you posted on here!

The advice you've already received is great. Make sure you definitely look into the course specific modules you will be studying with each of us and entry requirements as well as things such as the available accommodation, what the city is like and general student life.

If you have any specific questions you want to ask, feel free to email us directly on [email protected] and a member of our team will get back to you!

Hi @Tiana_01,

Looks like you've already received some great advice, so I won't add too much more. It's definitely important to weigh up what you want from the location of the university (cost, convenience and student life), with what you'll get from your time on campus (course modules, industry-relevant experience and support services). A good place to start is the specific course page for the degree you're interested in.

If you're still making up your mind, we are running a virtual Open Day this evening where you can ask any questions you might have about studying with us.

Good luck with your application!

Which international degrees does Bedfordshire offer?

Hi @ageshallnot,

Depending on level of study, there are a few options. Undergraduate options include International Business and International Tourism Management, while Postgraduate degree options also include International Human Resource Management and International Dispute Resolution, among others.

For a full list, you can take a look at the course listings for our Business School.

Best wishes,

Jack

I'm asking on behalf of the OP, because Beds doesn't appear to have any undergraduate degrees in International Relations. Hopefully they are looking for postgraduate.
