Which Warwick accommodation has the best social life (excluding Rootes)?

Hi, I’m looking through halls and was wondering which Warwick accoms have the best social life overall (I know Rootes is the best lol, I'm just wondering what the Top 3 is). I’m mainly looking for places that feel active and lively, and where it’s easy to meet lots of people. I’d really appreciate hearing people’s experiences or recommendations. Thanks!

Well the worst for social life are probably: bluebell, Westwood, Sherborne, heronbank and lakeside. The good ones are cryfield townhouses, Arthur Vick, Jack Martin and as you’ve said Rootes. But it mainly depends on your own flat. Make sure you mention in the accommodation questionnaire that you’re a very sociable person, so you’ll be in a flat with other likeminded people. Hope that helps, happy to answer any more questions!

Thanks, so would you say the accommodation questionnaire is more important than the hall itself? Also, where would you rank Claycroft and Cryfield Standard in that list - more towards the social ones or more mixed? (Claycroft and JM seem to appeal to me the most).

From what I’ve heard cryfield standard is relatively social. But I don’t know anything about claycroft, it’s undergoing renovations at the moment which have caused some issues for students. And yep id say the questionnaire has a big impact. I know a lot of people who ended up living with flatmates with almost the exact same interests and habits because of the questionnaire.

nah i liked heronbank, i was in heronbank north, made friends with my heronbank neighbours, and we all used to go out together. a lot of ppl from other heronbank appartments used to join us for pres in our kitchen too cause it was a pretty decent-sized kitchen. just don't go to westwood, there's 18ppl sharing one kitchen and 3 bathrooms. honestly if u make friends with ur neighbours and coursemates u won't have much of a problem with socialising, just avoid westwood

Hi there,

It’s worth saying upfront that no accommodation can guarantee a social flat, no matter how “known” it is and it really does come down to the personalities of the people you’re living with.

That said, there are ways to increase your chances. When you fill in the accommodation questionnaire, make sure you frame yourself as sociable and keen to live with like-minded people. Warwick does take this into account when allocating flats.

In terms of layout, accommodations with larger kitchens and more people per flat often feel more social because there’s simply more shared space and more opportunities to interact. Examples include:

Rootes (as you mentioned)

Cryfield Standard

Cryfield Townhouses

Arthur Vick

That said, there really isn’t a definitive list as plenty of people have very social experiences in quieter blocks, and vice versa.

Also it's worth remembering that your social life at Warwick isn’t defined by your flat. Even if you don’t end up in a very sociable accommodation, there are loads of other ways to meet people through societies, sports, course mates, and events across campus.
