Hi Everyone,

I am just starting a new thread for the current application period seeing as there isn't any discussion for the October 2026 start date of the DPhil in Education at Oxford.

This was for last cycle! The interview was really fine, its 30 minutes so there isnt really much to go deep into of my personal background/lived experiences. The interview was heavily based on my research proposal, the strengths the weaknesses and almost rationalizing every section of it and my thought process behind it. I used that as a strategy to weave in my other experiences as well. But had to withdraw the acceptance as i didnt get funding/nor managed to get external scholarships/funding to attend school.

Thank you for being so open to share your interview experience. I hope that you get funded this year to reward your perseverence. I have not heard anything as well and am getting worried. My proposal is based on my observations at work. It might not be the most fundable topic, which is another source of anxiety. I had a question, please. Did you have sufficient time to prepare for the interview or were you only given a day's notice? Having some knowledge of this process would help alleviate some of the stress that I am going through. 😀 Thank you.

No problem at all! Fingers crossed for all of us. Funding is being hit hard everywhere in the world for Higher Ed. And i resonate deeply with your anxiety of funding as well. I am researching into DEI in my home region and what a time to be researching DEI with so much pushbacks am i right XD

I was given enough time (i believe it was at least a week) for my interview. I think there was too much time for me to overthink to be very honest. But i told myself to have realistic expectations that (1) there is only so much to cover in 30 minutes and (2) i dont need to be an expert with the literature or field, its an ongoing process even through my PhD. I guess thats how i prepped for my interview!

But i also want to caveat and say that - this is ENTIRELY dependent on who is inviting you and their schedule as well!!

Hopefully we have some updates next week!

Is anyone aware of any past cases where someone got an interview invite despite not reaching out to a supervisor prior to applying?

Reply 18

Don’t know

Has anyone heard anything? Looks like the other DPhil programmes already have started interviews. Does this mean that I was not selected then (since I have not received any contact from Oxford?)
