Predicted grades

Right now, I have ABC predicted but I have a chance to increase my C in Biology to a B or even an A as I’m doing a retake however I’ve spoken to my business teacher to up my predicted but they’re quite selective however they’re lenient with med students as I know someone who got an E and was predicted an A but she won’t predict me an A (fyi I got a C in my yr12 mocks)

Anyway, I’ve applied for contextual for UOB to do law and I’m also applying for law at University of Nottingham and University of Warwick, Aston University also University of Leeds ( also applied for contextual)
So what are my chances if I’m able to convince my business teacher( any tips on this would be so helpful) with AAB predicted to get into law.

The usual advice for your 5 UCAS choices is :

1 choice just above your predicated grades - one grade and not in a vital subject

3 choices at your predicted grades - these are you most likely offers

1 choice at least one grade below your predicted grades - your Insurance choice

And btw, 'convincing' a teacher to artificially hike your predictions is a pointless exercise.
Imagine next August - when you don't get those grades, and you have no Uni place.

Hi, I completely understand where you're coming from. I'm currently a Year 13 and was predicted A*AB (B in Business) because like you, I also got a C in my Year 12/13 mock. I did, however prove I am capable of getting an A by giving my teacher weekly past papers to mark (which he was very pleased with). And he ended up moving it. Just some words of advice, try getting on their good side, raise your hand to ask questions in class (it shows your interested), and show them you ARE capable of getting an A or higher. Business is a tricky subject, but hopefully he understands😊

I sat my a levels in 2025 so am applying for 2026 entry - i missed my warwick offer in 2025 which was A*AA (applied with A*A*A*) so i think warwick giving an offer is unlikely. However this year i applied with AAB (my achieved grades) and have recieved offers from exeter and newcastle (both of which stated entry requirements were AAA). it’s really difficult to give a straight up yes or no answer to your question but based off my experiences i think leeds and nottingham are most likely to give you an offer if you’re applying contextually. Best of luck and i hope you get the offers you’re wanting!! aston will definitely give you an offer by the way if that gives you any reassurance:smile:

What alevel subjects did you do? Was it more stressful sitting the actual exam?

i took business sociology and law - was told at the start of year 12 to change business to econ to make my options more ‘prestige and reputable’ but chose not to as cba to be completely honest! I found the lead up to exams okay - however the actual exam season was really difficult and overwhelming for me. i found myself doing night before cram revision for every exam and skipping parts of modules if they had appeared on last years paper ( i am not condoning this but i analyzed every years paper and made a note of what had/hasn’t come up and revised based off that). But as long as you’re contextual i think leeds will let you in as well as notts but the nottingham law courses appear to be more competitive than leeds

i found business okay but LEARN THE EQUATIONS AND MODELS!!!! i did aqa not sure about other exam boards but i found other than the equations and models the rest was common sense - not entirely but i made some of my points up on the spot and i was 1 mark off an A* so it didn’t end too terribly. MCQs were where i used to lose a lot of my marks in mocks so just make sure you’re up to date on snappy facts like factors etc and PESTLE points! all the best

Thanks for the advice, 100% will be giving my business teacher all the past papers (even though she’s known to not mark them) but I feel I still have a chance, not giving up just yet!

yeah definitely don’t think I’m going to get my Warwick offer but thanks for some reassurance glad to see someone else with AAB who still got into some good unis! Most people I’ve spoke to who do law got AAA and above.
