low mock grades

I’m in year 12 and I’ve just done my first set of mocks. I just scraped an E in edexcel psych. I asked my teacher if i could go to an A or A * and she said she’d never seen it before. can I get there in 4 months in time for my uni predicted grade exams? if so anyone who’s done edexcel psych please give any advice you can!

Hi @btvtctdrcutvy

I would recommend looking through your test paper to identify what areas you need to focus your revision on to increase your grade. Hopefully, your teacher has given you some feedback, however if not then it is a good idea to ask for this. Consider if there are any specific topics you need to revise or if there is a specific type of exam question you need to improve. Once you have done this you can focus on improving in the identified areas.

It is also important to remember that it is still early in Year 12 so you do still have lots of time to improve and get your grade up to where you want it. Make sure that you take the time to build your knowledge of every topic, create revision resources and practice answering exam questions.

Hope that helps!

It’s always worth a try just work really hard at it and show your teacher consistent improvement!! I’m assuming you’re early applicant if your summer ones are your ucas grades but just remember it’s in your hands 4 months seems like a short time but you can really drill content and sometimes it’s simple fixes to exam technique. You got this don’t let yourself become discouraged.

I do edexcel psych (worse exam board) and got the exact same thing in my first mock but managed to get predicted an A, all i can say is try your best to memorise the content and make sure you always link to the question so if it’s an 8 marker i.e “evaluate social identity theory” or smthin give your A01 + an example of said point then your A03, bare in mind you only get marks for the justification and evaluation.
Always link back to the question, also if the question requires A02 try your best to mention as much of the example extract thing as you can in every point

Hello :wavey: For context I did a-level psych

I recommend looking over your mock paper to see where you went wrong (e.g. not knowing content, wrong structure when answering questions etc.). This means you can use your time effectively by focussing on areas you're weakest on. You could also 'RAG' the specification so you know what content you need to focus the most revision on.

Hope this helps! :yep:
