My job interview was stunning *grin*

I went in, and the woman who owns the shop said, 'Can you add up? Do you like talking to people?' When I said yes, she said, 'Good, then you'll do me!'

So, I'd say family run businesses are probably the easiest!

I don't think that interviews for shop work are too bad in general though, although I'm sure there are exceptions. My mum's shop is so desperate for decent, reliable staff, that they'll take anyone who comes across at all well! (Though I'm sure you wouldn't need desperate employers to take you on, Sian!)

Lol, I know somebody who was turned down for a job stacking shelves at Sainsbury's. In my town, it's a well known fact that it's harder to get a job at Sainsbury's than Morrisons... Sainsbury's do pay better though, so it's hardly surprising. Half my school works in Morrisons

Besides supermarkets, you could try fast food outlets and clothes stores.

iceland seems easy, well i mean i walked in there last week and was shocked at the people they hired

Reply 6

i had an interview at iceland and the man even said to me that i come across polite, confident etc etc and would you belive it i didnt get the job, anyway i went in there o do some shopping a few weeks later and saw they hired a complete idiot. I dunno if it is there policy to hire people without qualifications.

Anyway i got a job at asda soon after for a much better hourly rate  And before these interviews i had one at a bedding shop and got the job after a good interview but after working there for a week i got offered the job at asda

Hehe... my friend had a very badly paid job at Toymaster... he quit, and he went back in there a few months later to buy something and they offered him his job back, lol... but no pay rise!

Aww. Ok, well my local supermarket (Savacentre) hire complete morons. Maybe some people get turned down because they have too many qualifications?

I don't understand why places don't take you on if you have too many qualifications, has anybody actually denied having qualifications to get a job? yeah fast food places are always taking on, I use to work at KFC and the staff change over was pretty high

I certainly didn't apply my fantastic intellectual abilities during that job. But helping customers is cool. It's a shame that they're more often 60 year old short-sighted women than 20 year old good-looking girls who are looking for washing detergent.

Not really. There was never much to stare at anyway...

Well at my interview, at Sainsbury's, I was basically asked a series of multiple choice questions on customer service. It sounds a bit daunting, but it's easy when you remember you just have to kiss the customer's arse as much as possible . I imagine it's sort of similar for most big shops. Really, there's nothing to be scared of. Just apply to everywhere you can think of, and you'll get a job no problem!
