Buy an old medical textbook and read about a single condition at a time. This will build a degree of familiarity with the content and can be quite motivational.

In the meantime, as you study through year 12 you can begin to learn about medical news and scientific research. Find a few medical research topics that seem interesting to you and read about them. Then consider which Universities you might like to attend and find out what research they are involved in.

i think this is really good. you have work experience, good gcses, and passion. if you have a good ucat and high predicted grades, i think you are very very likely to get med offers. hope everything goes well for you!

I'm currently a student midwife. You'll be a great applicant. As long as you stick with what you're doing, you'll be on the right track to getting accepted onto your dream course

Your grades are great...I think you should definitely aim to get as high predicted A levels as possible - and you will get that prediction sort of in the summer, or just when you return in Sept. In the meantime, when you're doing your work experience, or when you're running your clubs, reflect on what is it that you like about leadership/teamwork etc. Even if it's a language club, or scouts, you should be able to reflect on that. Also, UCAT - you can spend about 6-8 weeks just before your UCAT date.

Finally, don't get too stuck on which med school to apply to. There may be favourites (because you know someone who went there, or older sibling went there, it's nearby, it's your favourite football club whatever...) but until you get your UCAT score, and your predicted grades, it's really no point - so don't get hung up. You will see lots of 'I have to get into X'... don't do that. great if you do, but if being a doctor is your dream, then you'll go wherever your profile fits.

There will be some schools that will rate your GCSEs in some sort of algorithm. For those schools, you'll be competing with students who will have 9 9s. You can of course try, and do read up on their selection criteria, but each school will have different selection criteria... so, for best chance, you need to select strategically.

Good luck!

Sound great. I recommend looking into researching as med schools love research so find something that interests you, and then also work experience but I think schools help plan that. Just make sure to try get lots of med experience you can in year 12 because year 13 is more academic based and less free time, and then if you have a great selection of experiences you can choose the most important ones for you personal statement, to talk about in interviews and for you life. Good luck!
