In need of Desperate Careers Advice

I want to just start a decent career it doesn’t matter which although something that will give me stability in the long term and I can get out of my retail job, any career where epilepsy won’t affect as of such because I will admit finding a job in IT has been hard especially after graduating 2/3 years ago back and I’ll just admit I give up at this point I’m at a melting point 🫠. Because the two careers I wanted to do policing and paramedics would require me to drive at this minute in time my medical condition doesn’t help. I want to get out of retail because I am already stressed as it is and mentally drained and fatigued and I just want a career that’s stable that I’ll enjoy and can get started straight away any advice, experiences or any form help desperately appreciated.

Thank You :frown:

Hey @Mohammed_2000

As you said above, both paramedics and policing will require driving which may be more challenging due to your epilepsy and potential DVLA rules surrounding this.
If you wanted to work within the NHS there are many options that don’t require driving you could have a think about:

Administrative roles (HR assistant, IT related roles, etc. )

111/999 Call handler

Clinical support roles

Corporate/IT/Admin roles

Or if you were more interested in policing you could have a look into non-operational/non-officer roles, from having a little search it seems like there is many of these! To list a few:

Police call handler

Community engagement staff

ICT support officer

You should definitely have a better look into these options, there are many more i haven’t listed that don’t require driving !

Hi Molly, I hope you have a wonderful new year. How easy is it to find these Job roles please? Also is it something that’s stable in the long term?
