Higher Jekyll and Hyde qoutes

My higher English prelim has been scheduled for the 19th of Jan and we are studying Jekyll and Hyde for our set text. I have become well versed on the structure of the ten marker, but I am having a lot of difficulty finding qoutes and analysis. Any help would be greatly appreciated (links to websites, suggestions for qoutes etc)

Thanks!

Might be worth looking at guidance for GCSEs available on sites like pmt and revisionowl. Often the resources for gcse English lit is not focused on exam tech, just quotes and analysis so certainly worth a look 🙂

Hey. I'm also doing Jekyll and Hyde for my SST at higher this year, and I'm predicted an A, so hopefully I can help.

Because of the fact it's a novel, I recommend making a Google doc with tables of quotes (+ technique) + analysis rather than flashcards.

You want to have a table for each possible ten-marker question - so for each theme, for setting, each main character, ect. Mine are as follows:
Setting (to explore central concerns).
The character of Jekyll.
The character of Hyde.
The character of Utterson.
Imagery (to explore central concerns).
Repression and duality.
Secrecy.
The relationship between Jekyll and Hyde.
Evil in humanity.
The experiences of characters (to explore central concerns).
Symbolism.
Another thing that could likely come up how key events explore central concerns of the novel, but I decided not to do a separate table for that as my quotes and analysis are pretty much covered for that by everything else.

For each table, you'll want at least seven quotes (+ technique) + analysis, all from different chapters. If you're struggling for quotes from different chapters, you can take two quotes from the same chapter, but said chapter would have to be long (such as 8 and 10) and the quotes from the beginning and end of the chapter.

I printed off this document and in preparation for a test/my prelim, read over it like I would do with flashcards.

This website, Study Rocket, has great materials on the different key themes, characters, and elements of Jekyll and Hyde. Whilst it doesn't have quotes, you could use the website to help with your analysis and to steer yourself in the right direction with finding relevant quotes.

I'm going to be honest, I find it easier to remember the quotes and analysis that I've picked out myself than the ones my teacher looked at with us in class. This is why I'm hesitant to share any with you just now, but if you're still struggling later on the let me know and I can share a couple with you from each of my tables.

If you go to the "2025-2026 Higher English discussion", you'll see I've given out plenty of advice there.

I hope this helps, and if you have any more questions, feel free to ask me. 😊
