Cambridge MPhil Population Health Sciences – Interview Invite (Jan 13) – Preparation

Hi everyone,
I’ve just been invited for an interview for the MPhil in Population Health Sciences at Cambridge on January 13th.
Is there anyone else here who has been invited or is currently on the course? I’m looking for some advice on the interview format.
How much of the interview is focused on epidemiology/biostatistics vs. general public health?
Do they ask technical questions about the pre-application maths self-screening tool?
Should I be prepared to discuss my research proposal in high detail?
If anyone wants to connect and practice or share tips, please let me know. Good luck to everyone!

Hi there! I've my interview coming up around the same time as well. I imagine they would ask about the self-screening tool, because unless some applicants went into great detail, I'm not sure how much a reflection can really tell the committee about our technical competencies. However, I haven't found any details on the actual interview yet, other than that there have been technical questions for the HDS track in years previous. I'll keep in touch!! Good luck to you as well!

Could you guys share your chosen tracks? I also applied on 3rd December but I haven't heard back from them. It's a bit odd I haven't heard back considering I had gotten in last year for the same programme and my profile has only improved since then.

Hey akshu_pakshu, you messaged me, but my account is new, so I need to wait some time to reply to you. It is saying you need to wait until 48 hours 😞. My chosen tract is Epidemiology and Public Health. And yes, it was Paola Rocchetti,, The interview panel will consist of Dr Samuel Lambert and Dr Stephen Kaptoge. The interview will last for approximately 20 minutes.

Hi, I have my interview coming up around the same time as yours. I’ve chosen Health Data Science as my second-choice track. I wanted to kindly ask whether the technical questions for the HDS track in previous years were similar to the self-screening tool or more demanding. Were they mainly focused on solving maths equations, or did they also involve concepts such as Poisson and normal distributions

Me too. I also haven't heard back. Have they sent out the emails for interviews to all their preferred candidates already? Should I be worried?

I just interviewed yesterday, very straightforward -- asked about screening, my profile and research, etc. lasted 25 mins

What do you mean screening?

What track did you apply? & any technical questions or cv pimping/behavioural questions??

The self-screening tool reflection. It was half about you and your goals, and half semi-technical just explaining the research and stuff you mentioned on your application like your stats experience

Hey! How did the interview go for you? Were the HDS questions as technical as you were thinking? Or was it focused more on your profile?

Hi everyone. Has anyone who interviewed this month gotten offers?

Hello, has anyone seen any changes on the portal? My portal was updated to say that my application was unsuccessful. I had my interview on the 14th for ID track. Let me know if anyone else has received any more info please.

I've received my interview in PHS and my chosen track is infectious disease. I'm very concerned because it seems that no one in this direction has shared their interview experiences.

Hi, sorry to bother you, I wonder if the ID-related interview has many technical questions and if it is difficult?

Hi! Congrats on interview. Go through your application and the screening tool. The interview will likely be technical based on your application answers, and they will want to check that you engaged with the screening tool.

I had interview for the global health theme on 6th of January and my portal is stuck on Under review since then. Anyone with similar experience.
