Second undergraduate degree funding

Hi, I’m hoping I’m able to get some help/clarity about whether or not I will qualify for funding for another undergraduate degree.

I am wanting to study health sciences but already have an undergraduate degree in criminology & a masters in the psychology of mental health and well-being. I have decided on a completely new career adter manu years deliberation!

I am wondering if I’d get tuition fee and maintenance loan while studying a second undergraduate in this field? Also would I have to study part time to be entitled, or would full time study be ok?

Thank you so much in advance!
Hi, I've moved your thread to the "Ask SFE" forum so one of the SFE official reps can advise you more

It would probably be helpful for them if you confirm the specific course name and provider(s) you are looking at doing the course at so they can check against their database!

Generally I believe at the moment part-time STEM degrees are eligible for second degree funding. Some allied health professions courses are eligible for full time funding as a second degree also though.

Hi Lyrose,

Can you confirm when the course would start and is it a full time or part time course? What university would you attend, what is the full name of the course and how many years does it last?

Thanks, Drew

Hi Drew,

Thank you for your reply.

I am interested in The Open University Bsc (Honours) Health Sciences - full time for 3 years.

The next intake is for February so I’m unsure if this would be too soon to sort finance. Also this is distance learning so I’m unsure about that being eligible for maintenance loan!

I am willing to study in person, I am just still researching local enough universities that offer Health Sciences!

Thank you for any clarification!

Hi Lyrose,

The course details show the course is an exception course meaning we won't take previous study into account.

Distance Learning course's are only eligible for Tuition Fee Loan unless you're doing the course distance learning due to disability and can provide evidence of this.

Thanks,
Claire
