What are some clubs your school or university have?

I'm doing research for an external project and the theme of schools and societal clubs have become present in my work. I'd like know what differs in clubs between the UK. Please include many details thank you.

What is the title of your 'external project', and where are you studying, ie. school, Uni?

You can find the list of societies for most unis on their website so you can gather data from that

Hey @Anonymous ! This sounds like a really interesting project. And just like some of the responses have said, you can definitely check out the University websites, especially society pages because they have all the details regarding societies!

What I will say about my University though is we have many societies and they are all split into different categories depending on the society. This would be: academic, sport, media, faith/culture. People are also free to create their own societies so that further helps with inclusion. Personally I am part of Scratch Radio, Women's Society, Poets and Pieces Society and BCU Law and Mooting society.

All the best with your research 🙂

Hi Anom,

This is a great question.

At the University of Lancashire we have over 100 different societies, if you check our student union website you can see all the different types we have. Some include the film society, video game society, equestrian society and the fencing society.

Most universities will have their societies listed on their student union pages or the university website so make sure to look there!

I hope this helps, please feel free to ask me any questions,
-Sophia (University of Lancashire)

Hi there,

We have a lot of student societies at DMU. Please feel free to find details on our Student Union's website: DSU Societies
For instance, my favourite one is a DMU Hackers society, but it is probably because I study Cyber Security degree

Please let me know if you have any questions,

Hey,
Of course, I would love to help with your project. Here are some of the school clubs that my uni offers: Alpha Investments (a14s) society, Artificial Intelligence Society, Assassination Guild, Bahá'í Society (I think it's something faith-related), the Cheese and Wine Society, Choir and Orchestra Society, Drum and Bass Society, Esports, European Society and many others. As for me, I am part of the MMU QueerPOC society and the Black Girl Space.

Hope this helps! 😊

Hi there!

Here is the list of societies that Hallam has on offer for students: https://www.hallamstudentsunion.com/opportunities/societies/social/

Some of the societies that I am part of include BAM (Business and Management society), the rounders society and the social netball society.

Some of my favourite and unique societies include the 'Knit like your Nana' society, the Wine society and the Potter society!

Hallam also has quite a few academic societies which are often free to join where you meet with others from your course or a similar course which can be fun to be a part of too.

I hope some of this helps,

Lucy -SHU student ambassador 🙂
