You are already at BBC, not starting from scratch
•
Essay subjects reward skills as much as content
•
Dyslexia means you may struggle with reading but not thinking or understanding
•
You still have a lot of usable time, you just need to structure it properly
•
Understand exam questions
•
Know core themes
•
Practise exam-style writing repeatedly
•
Audio-first learning
•
Chunked content
•
Speaking it out before writing
•
Templates and structures
•
Use YouTube/ podcasts/ audio notes to understand key themes, timelines, arguments
•
Only read summaries not full chapters
•
So the goal here is familiarity
•
15 - 20 minutes per plan
•
Focus on argument, paragraph structure, linking back to the question
•
Use sentence starters like:
“The most significant factor was”
“This suggests that”
“However, this interpretation is limited by”
These reduce cognitive load massively.
•
1 timed essay per subject per week
•
Use mark schemes to self mark
•
Record yourself explaining what the question wants and your argument
•
25 minutes work
•
5 minutes break
•
No phone in the room
•
Read questions out loud
