A level help please

I recently got DDD in my mocks in bio, chem, and psych do u think I can move up to AAA or ABB by May?. I would like some tips please. Also for uni I want to apply to medicine but I’m not that keen on it so I thought I could apply 3 medicine and 2 for pharmacy should I do that and adjust my personal statement to it or? Or should I do 2 medicine, 2 pharmacy and 1 biomed?

Sorry guys I’m very lost since I’m the first person to ever go to uni in my family and I don’t have anyone to help me with this

If you’re not that keen on medicine then don’t apply to medicine. Is there any reason why you want to do medicine despite not being keen on it? For the sake of yourself and other applicants, I’d strongly advise against applying for the course (it’s pointless to apply for a course you’re not that keen on especially if it requires full dedication like medicine does).

You wouldn’t be able to effectively balance your PS in my opinion if you applied to 2 med, 2 pharm, 1 biomed or even if you could, it would be a silly thing to attempt to do. Save yourself the hassle.

I want to do medicine because I’ve always wanted to be a doctor and I don’t want to waste my hard work now but ever since these mocks I’ve lost hope idk if I’m over reacting but these mocks feel like they’ve given me less hope

You're getting ahead of yourself. Focus on your studies for now.

you still have a lot of time! and i think getting 3 As is definately achievable if you put in the hard work. I would recommend getting some work experience to see if you are truly passionate about it.

Does you lack of keenness simply stem from fear of not being good enough to do the subject based on mocks? Or are you just genuinely (deep down) not full keen in pursuing a career/degree in medicine regardless of the mock results?

Is you are genuinely keen on medicine if it weren’t for the recent mock results, is there any reason why you’d want to apply to 2 pharmacy schools and 2-3 medical schools?

For bio flashcards are the way to go, preferably make your own but if you dont have the time or work ethic etc then find some on a site that suits you. Once you are good at the content then move onto past paper questions, first off do them open book to apply the knowledge you have accurately and focus on exam tech by reading the markscheme and any model solutions for the long answer questions. Make sure you pay attention to the examiner comments as well if they are included in the ms for your exam board. Then move on to closed book questions to build up speed and test yourself on the content. If you’re struggling with a concept as a whole then sites like Seneca can really help to get your understanding of the content to an acceptable level before you start memorising and applying the content to questions.

These mocks are only a term in - honestly don't worry about the results right now, just use them to push on with your revision - for sciences I recommend SaveMyExams or PMT or Seneca - writing things down in your own style is one of the best things you can do to learn a topic. If you've always wanted to be a doctor, go for it! However, almost everyone who goes for medicine only applies for medicine - so by stretching yourself thin you reduce your chances, it is also a lot of work + dedication! But you've probably got a term to decide that, so focus on your studies now and see what happens by next half-term, you should be able to massively improve those grades if you try. One set of mocks does not determine anything - all it affects is your motivation (and you might benefit from extra help from school which is never a bad thing).

I just lose hope every time I do ‘bad’ on a test like I’ve got B for all my unit tests but for mocks I got D so it feels like I’m not good enough to do medicine and it just scares me but I really want to go to medicine. I also chose pharmacy because for yr 10 I did work experience in a pharmacy and it was really nice and enjoyed it and I have cousins who did pharmacy and they told me it’s really good as well

Thank you so much!!! I get the content and everything but when it comes to AQA questions it throws me off so much and I keep getting it wrong because it’s worded so weirdly do you have any advice for that? Should I revise the markschemes but everyone’s telling me not to cause it’s different

Thank you so much!! I lost motivation a bit cause my teachers are horrible at teaching and I have to teach everything my self. I’ll see what this next term says and will get better

I have tried to get work experience but the thing is my GP do have work experience but I’m only available on the weekends and they are all closed then. I will try getting more. Do you know if unis prefer virtual or in person work experiences?

I dont do aqa but ocr have similarly picky markschemes. I spent a few weeks on just revising exam tech a while back and have improved a lot by looking through markschemes and adding to my flashcards from them, practicing breaking down questions and really focusing on the command word.

i will admit there is a lot of cards there in this deck but your only in year 12 so you have plenty of time to learn it , you can come home after a lesson and do the subsection of that part of the units decks as the cards are all arranged really nicely !, and you have lots of time i only started using it 2 months ago and its a game changer, i used to be the guy who just read my book and memorised the content, which i soon realised after year 12 this is becoming really hard and i was forgetting things constantly not anymore !
