I’m an English a teacher (gcse and a-level). I’ve experimented with AI as I know students use it, it is very, very, inaccurate. You are better off reading the exam specification, examiners reports and the model answers/indicative content on the mark scheme. Remember that a grade 9 is only awarded in comparison to rest of exam cohort, so it’s hard to grade yourself higher than an 8 anyway. Look at the descriptors for each band within the mark scheme, why not ask your teacher for feedback too? I’m always happy to look over extra stuff for my students if they’re actually doing the work in class and put in the effort. If your teacher agrees with your marking then you can be more sure you’re being accurate. 🙂 Focus on moving from one band to another (e.g if you’re consistently getting 20 out of 30 in literature qs then see how you can move to 24/25 (from clear - thoughtful).
