Second degree funding

Hi, I wish to do Q31 Maths at the open uni as a second undergraduate degree and want to enrol now for a Feb start date

I have a previous bachelors degree, non stem and am currently receiving postgrad funding for a computer science masters.

Would I be eligible for funding for this academic year or do I have to wait until next year so as to avoid being rejected for undergraduate funding due to not being allowed double funding?

Note, my masters funding technically is for academic years 23/24 but it shows payments for academic years 23/24 and 24/25 - with a final payment due now in February.

Also, does my masters being in stem have any effect? thank you

It is an exception course to my knowledge:

Hi there,

The course you have mentioned at the Open University is classed as an exception course however you will not be able to apply for funding if you are still on the Postgraduate Course. When is the graduation date for this course?

Thanks, Drew

Hi Drew, the graduation date is June 2026 for my postgrad. My funding in SFE shows 23/24 and 24/25 for payments for the academic years.

I have been able to apply for funding for 25/26 and its showing as processing - would I then be declined or should the system have not been able to let me apply in the first place?

Hi there,

the application should be rejected if you're currently on the postgraduate master's course, as you can't receive funding for both at the same time.

Thanks,
Claire
