hi - im an oxford applicant for english in y12. i am doing my alevels and take core maths

i am debating dropping core maths as i am unsure about the grade i will get it, as i am concerned that it could harm my application, so not having it at all may prove better

does anyone have any advice? (my alevel grades and epq are strong atm for context)

what options do u have after dropping it?

if it’s the fourth subject u take then drop it LIKE IT’S HOT u do NOT need that ruining ur other subjects. unless u want to overcompensate i don’t see 4 being helpful. but i don’t do english so defo ask an english student abt that. imo maths is cool to have but not worth missing a potential offer for. if i were u i’d drop it and b done w it, happy days.

but if maths is ur THIRD then what would ur skl let u swap it with? are some subjects already full or can u swap with any at all? do u have any potential subjects in mind?

no thank you sm for taking the time! I actually take 3 alevels (not incl maths) + epq + core maths which is sort of like half analevel, and that's what I'd like to drop :smile:

DROP IT ASAP, the EPQ would essentially compensate it anyways AND having core maths is more than enough :smile:
