A Level Help

Hi, I'm applying to sixth-form now ( currently in Year 11 ) and I'm not entirely sure on what to pick for my last A-Level . I am looking to pursue a career in finance and I want to apply to LSE. I've already picked Maths, Further Maths and Economics. Any ideas on what to do for the last one?

How about computer science? Not sure if there are specific requirements to study economics (you can check that in the entry requirements for the universities you could apply), but definitely will be useful for your studies and career opportunities.

Thanks for the response, I don't think my school does give a computer science option as A Level though but it would be quite helpful

Are you sure you want to take a fourth? All the top universities accept three subjects and adding a fourth one is going to put more strain across your grades. You are also unlikely to receive reduced offers from universities like LSE and other prestigious places so you are better off with 3 really strong grades rather than 4 good ones. LSE will also choose the subjects they want you to get their entry requirement grades in so bare this in mind: you do not need that fourth subject. They also do not tend to favour students with four subjects over students with three and especially if you do not even have a subject you really want to do, it is not necessary. However, if you are adamant in studying four or your school counts maths and further maths as a sort of combined subject as some tend to do, here is a list of subjects LSE favours: Ancient History

Biology

Classical Civilisation

Chemistry

Computing

Economics

Electronics

English (English Language, English Literature and English Language and Literature)

Further Mathematics*

Geography

Government and Politics

History

Languages: Modern Foreign, Classic and Community**

Law

Mathematics

Music

Philosophy

Physics

Psychology

Religious Studies

Sociology

Also for your aid, here are subjects they DO NOT like: Any Applied A-level

Accounting****

Art and Design

Business Studies

Citizenship Studies

Communication and Culture

Creative Writing

Design and Technology

Drama/Theatre Studies***

Film Studies

Health and Social Care

Home Economics

Information and Communication Technology

Leisure Studies

Media Studies

Music Technology

Physical Education/Sports Studies

Travel and Tourism

All of this information is available on their website: https://www.lse.ac.uk/study-at-lse/Undergraduate/Prospective-Students/How-to-Apply/Admissions-Information
I hope this helps and good luck!

https://www.lse.ac.uk/study-at-lse/Undergraduate/Prospective-Students/How-to-Apply/Admissions-Information. That is a link to the list of subjects that LSE likes and does not like. I'm sorry, I posted a much longer response but for some reason it disappeared; I don't know, perhaps you can still see it. Anyway, to summarise, you do not need four subjects and applicants with four are not favoured nor are they given reduced offers so you are better off sticking with the three.

Lots of LSE students would do that combo alongside physics, very quantitative subjects and fit very good.
