Hate my job and I'm **** at it-HCA
I'm a HCA in a GP surgery and I hate it. I dread going in. I've Physician associate and because I've done the the doctors there basically think I can do nursing jobs like dressings, giving vaccines lie travel vaccines. It's basically they needed another nurse and were too stingy to pay nurses salary, so I'm working lie a nurse on a HCA salary. The GP is freezing. I'm working through lunch. I've only been given 5 weeks (I work part time)training before I start to run my own clinics, my friends from the course had 3 months at their surgeries.
Some of it is I'm just struggling with the system, EMIS, and which template to use e.g. do I use the diabetes template or multi-morbidity template for a diabetes patient? Also with urine dips, although I use NICE, the policies to send of urine are different at that GP and how do I know when to put a patient on the clinical review list, we aren't taught that.
Also I really don't lie the people. The nurse that I spend most time with is a bit of a cow, like when the vacutainer flew off the butterfly needle whist it was in the vein, an when I was going to take of the tourniquet and take out the needle she said stop no and tried putting another vacutainer in and the blood went everywhere. Then when i was going to go in the other arm she tried forcing me to go in the same arm even though the patient was reluctant and was quite aggressive. She even gives the criticism in a rude way in front of the patient and will use words like faffing around or when I was struggling to get the needle to close, she was telling me how I put myself, her the patient and her sone in danger, in front of the patient. Also on friday, she was nicer, but at the and of the day when I was wiping down the room we working in to tick o the sheet, even though I was going to miss my bus, turns out she already did it and just didn't tell me even though she was in the room on the computer .when i was wiping it, and knows It takes me 1.5 hours to get home.
One of the receptionists is a bit of a ***** as well, she makes snarky little comments when its just me and her.
