Year 12 A-level study

Hi, I’m a year 12 currently doing alevel history, politics and psychology- and am also aiming for a RG uni! I just need some advice, when do i need to revise, and how much do I need to do? I have mocks in the summer too. But I make flashcards after every lesson. Also, what should I be doing in the summer? I was thinking of drafting my ps, but do I also need to be doing revision, and how much? It’s just all a bit overwhelming and I just want to get the grades I need, without burnout. Any advice appreciated.

For revision I’d say go what works for each subject, weather that is flash cards or blurting. You don’t have to go a lot like 6 hrs per day you just have to do meaningful revision that is active rather than passive do like answering questions or making essay plans from memory. To prevent burnout I’d say do atleast 3 hrs per day 1 hr for each subject and do your homework at home but do it blind so it can be revision so you get some revision done. For your ps you don’t have to start it now as it’s not needed but i know some schools make you start around march my school made us have a draft before summer, but you can start your personal statement during your summer holidays so you aren’t burnt out. In the summer you don’t have to do much I didn’t do much and I’m currently on A*A (should be an A*) B. You can go over your weak topics so you have solid grounds of year 12 topics for year 13 other than that enjoy your summer.

hey, year 13 psychology student here!
i think making a weekly revision timetable is very useful for ensuring you're using your frees effectively as it's very tempting to lose focus, but ensure it is still flexible so you can do extracurriculars or hang out with friends as this will really help to prevent burn out. i would recommend saving homework for evenings and save revision for your most useful time, which for me is mornings as that's when i find my revision is the most focused. another important thing is ensuring your revision is active, i also use flashcards and i think they're amazing but make sure you keep recalling and keep practicing as you go along since simply making them is very passive, it'll make revision for mock exams a lot more smooth and reduce your stress. i used my year 12 summer preparing a draft on my personal statement, taking part in work experience/courses, researching on universities of interest and consolidating year 12, ensuring i had all my resources but i also made sure i still enjoyed my summer!
good luck, you got this
