Advice for uni course related to project management

Hi! I am currently on a gap year after my A levels and I am a bit stuck with what to do next year.

I studied bio chem and spanish at college and have got a place at uni to study chem next year.

However, I've recently started a new job which involves a lot of project management and coordination (on a fairly small scale). I really love doing that and I'm now considering doing something related to that at uni, just not sure what options I have!

A lot of people who've done chem at uni go on to do something related to business and management because it shares a lot of the same analytical skills, I'm just wondering if I can bypass the chem part and go straight to the part I enjoy more.

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated!!

There are lots of courses actually in project management. Personally, I'm doing a more specialised branch (construction project management) next year. I would highly recommend applying to degree apprenticeships in that area or asking the company you work for now about them. Your subjects may make it harder but if you can demonstrate enough soft skills and enthusiasm there is no reason you can't make it.

As above, increasingly a degree is not the big 'door opener' that it once was and there may be other ways of achieving this as a career. Alternatively if your intended Chem degree has any opportunity for a work placement or study abroad, this could be shaped towards 'management experience' that might lead to the sort of career you want.

Good point! Do you know any companies which are offering project management/business analyst apprenticeships?
