Are bad GCSE mock grades okay??

Im so scared for my mocks tomorrow as I didn't revise enough
I've been travelling during the holiday but thats an excuse ngl for not studying properly
as someone who wants grades 8/9 for actual GCSE, will mock results (6-8) be okay??
like is there enough time to pull the grades up

Yeah youll be fine, spring term mocks are a good opportunity to practice the formality of being in exams and test paper timings etc but they dont contribute to anything like predicted grades for sixth forms usually because your application will have been sent already (if not then best to ask your school if these grades will contribute!).

Yes lol. My mock grades averaged like 5-6 with my lowest being a 1, then in real exam I ended up with 9999998888 + A

How much did you study after your mocks to achieve those grades?? and when did you start?

Hey @Ddxb,

If you're currently working at 6-8s and want to achieve 8/9s, you definitely still have enough time to increase your grades. You've admitted you haven't revised as much as you would have liked for these mocks, so you know you need to revise more for your final exams this summer; it's just about creating and sticking to a consistent revision schedule from here on out. Use these mocks as an opportunity to gain exam experience and identify any particularly weak topics/subjects.

Best of luck with your GCSEs,
Eve (Kingston Rep).

I'm a weird case. I spent all of y10 flirting with girls rather than studying or listening, hence the grades (like it was so bad that i didn't even do homework so i was always in detention). I only started listening in class in January, but still didn't revise outside of school. Then, starting April 16th (i have no idea why i have that memorised lol), I started studying anywhere between 5-15 hrs/week outside of school (i'd say i averaged 10/week) but it varied quite a lot.

Mocks are there to help you identify gaps in your learning and you can use them to target these areas. Make sure you RAG rate the papers [tag me if you don't know what I mean] and focus on amber areas first.

I know I'm not OP but what does that mean?

Assessment for learning is where you use test marks to help you improve. You go though your paper and decide wich topics are:
RED didn't have a clue - I need to relearn this and/or get help
AMBER got some marks - these are the topics to start with as you will improve rapidly
GREEN got full or nearly full marks - just keep these topics ticking over

I draw up a spreadsheet of marks for my class and can identify areas I need to go over with the whole class and also individual weaknesses. Each student gets a feedback sheet.

Ohh, ok thanks. I kind of did this with how I revised but instead of doing it based off of past papers I watched mygcsescience and rewatched videos a bit later on if I didn't feel confident.
