Time Management for AQA GCSE Geography

Geography is a challenging subject for me nowadays as I usually cannot find time to revise for it, but there is a bigger issue with my Geography and that is time management- in my Geo Paper 1 mock a few months ago I completely missed the last section, for Geo Paper 2 mock I missed a 6-marker, and I've been doing past papers for Geo Paper 3 (after revising everything) to time but most recently I did one and missed the last question completely (12 marker as well) so it's clear that I do know most/all of the topics but I need to improve time management, as my issue for this has made me drop into a 7- I want to get a 9 in this subject. So does anyone have any advice for time management in Geography, it would be extremely helpful... Thank you for your time!

hey! i did aqa geography a couple years back and i got a 9 in it, and time was definitely a massive struggle for me too - they put so many questions into really not enoughtime!
it seems your main struggle is with long answer questions. i honestly, from my experience, practiced doing these questions in a mark a minute time frame - like a 6 marker, i would try and finish it in 6 minutes.. same for 4 markers up to 12 markeres. i found that the more i practiced, the faster i got, which really helped me for my final exam 🙂

Thank you! But did you implement these time frames into overall past papers or did you do them individually?

I did them individually at first, and then began to implement them into papers as i felt that i was getting better. if you dont want to use up all your past paper resources, hopefully yout teacher can give you sample questions to work on

Hey @Thala10,

As mentioned above, a mark per minute is a good rule of thumb. Use past papers and set a timer on your phone for each question; after a while, it'll feel like second nature to interally time yourself when writing your responses. Consider also taking a look at some mark schemes; you might be going into too much detail on some questions, which is causing you to lose marks elsewhere.

Hope you reach that Grade 9 soon! 🙂
