Withdrawal from a PGCE - if I start over in September, will I get the loans still

Hi,

I’m currently studying an English PGCE 11-16 and I’m due to go back after the Christmas holidays tomorrow. After careful consideration over these two weeks off, I’ve decided I’d like to withdraw from the course.

I have always taught primary school aged kids as a TA and also work in a Saturday and holiday club for children with SEND. However, I’ve now realised just how much I miss this type of teaching and I enjoy it so much more than secondary school.

The course so far has really been getting me down and I’ve been struggling with work load. I thought I could try and push through as I’m just under half way through. However, the feeling is just getting worse and I’d rather drop out and start again in September doing a PGCE 4-11 in SEND teaching, something I know I’m good at and something I know I’d definitely enjoy as it’s what I’ve always done.

Could anybody give me advice and let me know, would I be able to reapply and get: tuition loans, maintenance loans and the bursary for the SENDI PGCE, as I was eligible on this course now?

Thank you!

Hi there,

The university will need to send us a Change of Circumstances Withdrawal for the course you are currently on so we can update your application. You would need to reapply in the next academic year as a new student. Do you only have one year of previous study on this PGCE?

Thanks, Drew
