Best place for software engineering in Scotland?

Anyone studying Software Engineering or Computer Science at Edinburgh, Glasgow, Heriot-Watt, or Strathclyde—do you like the course and is there much of a community/student life? 😊

Hi. I don't attend any of these universities, but my friend is in her first year at Strathclyde and really enjoys it. She feels the social life is great ‐ lots of places to go out, ect. There's plenty of societies which host events. She's found the people on her course to be quite close-knit, even though they're a large cohort.

Hi there,

Great to hear you're thinking of studying at Glasgow!

I'm in my 3rd year of Mechanical Engineering, and have really enjoyed my student experience so far. Glasgow is such a lively city, and there is so much going on both on campus and in the wider community. Our campus is situated in the West End, with all the shops, cafes and bars you could want, and easy transport links to the city centre. We have two student unions who offer weekly events, club nights, food and special events throughout the year. There's over 50 sports clubs to get involved in, great gym facilities and hundreds of student societies both academic and non-academic. As the campus is quite compact, there's a really lovely community feel and it's very easy to meet people. I've met so many incredible people during my time here, and can safely say I'm never bored.
