European Postgraduate Study

Hi all, I’ve just graduated from the University of Bath with a BSc Economics (2:1) and I’m currently researching Master’s options in economics or finance. I didn’t manage to secure formal internship experience during university, so I’m trying to be realistic about which Master’s programmes are well regarded and actually helpful for jobs afterwards. I’m particularly interested in English-taught Master’s programmes in Europe since I'd like to live abroad for some period, but I’m also considering UK options. I’d like to avoid doing a Master’s that sounds good but doesn’t add much value in the job market. Would really appreciate thoughts on: - Good UK Master’s options with a Bath Econ 2:1 - Reputable European (English-taught) Master’s programmes in econ/finance - Whether going to a European university is genuinely worth it for careers in the UK or Europe

Hi sorry you've not had any responses to this. Unfortunately I study art so I'm not very knowledgeable on economics degrees and masters programmes. In the meantime whilst you wait for a reply to this, you could reach out to your uni in bath and ask about what past students have done and where they went for masters. The careers team should be able to help you with this but also your lecturers will have good advice and might know some great places abroad to study.

Best of luck!

With a Bath Econ 2:1 you’ve got solid options UK schools like Nottingham, Manchester, Warwick (for some tracks), or Bristol are well regarded and recruiter-friendly.In Europe, places like Bocconi, Barcelona GSE, Tilburg, and Stockholm School of Economics are genuinely respected, especially if you’re open to working in Europe after.

Could also try Irish universities like UCD and Trinity College in Dublin. They're good universities, but maybe Ireland doesn't feel foreign enough to a UK student! Also accommodation is quite difficult to find in Dublin
