DeMontfort Biomedical Science Written Exams Structure

Hi!

Got a quick question. I am currently in Year 1 Biomedical Science at University of Brighton and I will transfer to year 2 at DMU. I just wanted to know, what is the structure of written exams at DMU for this course? At Brighton (at least in Year 1) we literally only have 60 MCQs and 1 short answer question for each module written exam - so it is obviously more MCQ based.

I was wondering if DMU has the same structure, or if it puts more emphasis on short answer questions/long questions or essays for their written exams.

Thank you in advance!

Hiya lovely

So sorry for this late reply. Here is what I can tell you;

At DMU, Biomedical Science written exams are generally more mixed in format than the MCQ-heavy exams you’ve had in Year 1 at Brighton. While some modules may still include MCQs, especially at lower levels, exams from Year 2 onwards tend to place much more emphasis on short-answer and longer, structured questions. These often involve explaining concepts, applying knowledge to scenarios, interpreting data, and answering essay-style or problem-solving questions. Overall, compared to Brighton’s mainly MCQ format, DMU exams usually require more written explanation and depth of understanding, with longer answers becoming more prominent as you progress through the course.
