Maintenance loan living with a grandparent

Hi,
I’ve lived away in my university city for the past two years, but from June I’ll be moving in with my nan and commuting for my 3rd year. I’m a little unsure as to whether I’d be classed as living at home when it comes to my maintenance loan or not?

As far as I understand it, living at home only means living with your parents, which I won’t be, so I’d still be eligible for the living away from home amount of maintenance loan? Obviously my mum’s financial situation will still be assessed (my parents are divorced) which is fine, we’re still in contact, I just won’t be living with her.

I just want to get opinions on whether I’m right in my understanding of this I guess? Thanks!

Hi there,

That is correct. This would be classed as living 'elsewhere' if it's not your Mum's house. Thanks, Jason
