Issue with accommodation - renewing
Afternoon all,
We are 5 girls living in a 5 bed student accommodation flat. We are here 25/26 and are looking to stay on in the same accommodation 26/27.
We would like to move out in Jun 26 at the end of the lease and move back in Sep 26.
Issue: The accommodation office has informed us that the landlord does not wish to lose rent over the summer and most tenants are required to continue paying rent when extending or continuing their tenancy over summer.
We have informed them that we do not wish to continue the tenancy, but take out a new tenancy from Sep 26. They have replied that there is only 1 more 5 bed flat left and it runs from Jul 26 - we will still be home, so really do not want to pay for an empty flat. That being said, looking on the accom website there are 2 5 bed flats left and states that tenancies start from Sep 26!
Any thoughts on this? (aside from find somewhere else
)
