Offers and Predicted Grades

Hey guys,

I just got my predicted results today:
A* = Music
A = English
C = History

I want to apply for the following universities and I have given their grade requirements next to them too.

Durham University = AAB
University of Leeds = AAB
University of Manchester = AAB
Royal Holloway = ABB-BBB
University of York = AAB

If they don't accept, should I pick other unis?

Cheers guys - im quite stressed out so any help is appreciated.

I’ve applied to 4 unis for vet med. If I don’t get the grades I’m gonna look at another uni in clearing… remember you always have that! Aim high and clearing will be plan b

All of your choices are aspirational, you risk not getting offers or not meeting those offers.
You should have 1-3 aspirational choices (BBC or above) then 1-3 possible insurance choices being below BBC. If the offers are in ucas points rather than grades then aim for 1-3 at or above 136 ucas points then 1-3 possible insurance choices below 136.
If you cannot find any at or below BBC which you would accept the offer for then by all means apply for 5 aspirational choices but definitely make a plan B to take a year out to resit and/or reapply if you dont get any offers or if you dont meet them.

Hi there! 👋 First of all, well done on your predicted grades - they’re really strong!

For Royal Holloway, the typical offer for English and Classical Studies is usually in the range of ABB-BBB, so based on your predictions (A*, A, C), you’re definitely in a good position to apply. Universities often look at the overall profile, not just grades - things like your personal statement and passion for the subject can make a big difference!

📚 To find out more about the course itself - including entry requirements, modules, and career prospects you can visit our course page.

👉️We also run events throughout the year, which are a great way to ask questions directly to academics and students and get a real feel of what it’s like to study at Royal Holloway.

💬If you’d like to hear directly from current students about Royal Holloway, you can chat with them here. They can share real experiences about living on campus, studying your course, and student life in general!

Best wishes,

I'm now at york! I was initially offered ABB which got reduced to BBB. I ended up getting BBC in my final A-Levels and still got in. To be honest, I think it depends on what course you apply to and how popular it is. Also, clearing is always an option and it's good to be prepared in case you aren't accepted. That being said, stay positive and believe in yourself getting your predicted (or better!) grades.

Hey @benji_d5000,

I'm sorry we've taken a while to reply. Did you apply to the University of York in the end? If you've got any questions about student life in York or about the course you applied to, just let us know and we'll do our best to help 😀

Hannah 😊
