TSR Train Appreciation Thread

This thread is to talk about trains!

I don't have any other selling point currently, but I really like trains
My most rode trains are probably Thameslink Class 700s and LNER Class 801s. Probably also Class 377s and 387s as well.

My favourite train I have been on is the Intercity 225, was the most comfortable and the smoothest.

My least favourite train I've been on is the Class 165, they are noisy, uncomfortable and weirdly dark.

I've not really been on many trains though.
I hate cancelled or belated trains. That is a nuisance on the way to holidays or to work. So I appreciate a good infrastructure for them. The Switzerland has expensive tickets - and it is worth to spend the money.
Trains!

Class 165s are kinda grim, yes I've never had the dubious pleasure of riding the whole Cardiff to Portsmouth route on one. Also they seem to smell weirdly medicinal?

150s I think are my least favourite, and I love that I go to East Anglia enough now to get to ride a lot on the 745, one of my modern favourites! :awesome:

FLIRTs!!!

The Chiltern 165s are worse than the GWR 165s is all I'll say

Never been on a 150, and never had the misfortune of catching a Pacer either back when they were in service.

Deutsche Bahn is really bad in terms of services and punctuality. For both regional and international trains. But the British railway services seems not to be better at all according to some people on TSR around who told me.

Honestly they're not that bad. Most trains I catch have been on time, but I have also waited an hour just to be told my train has been cancelled, when they were saying it will be here in a minute for around half an hour.
The issue in both Germany and Britain is the network is overcrowded, so a small issue can have a big knock-on effect!

I still love going on a steam train.

Fortunate to have been on a steam train on Settle to Carlisle, North Yorkshire, Bluebell, Severn Valley, Ffestiniog and a few others.

Overcrowded trains is the one thing, the other thing are the lack of lines and the bad state the most of them are. And the lack of trains for such a demand of people.

I've been on the one from Pickering, though I was about 6 at the time so don't remember much of it.

Very relatable - I do most of my sport travel by train, and mostly its fine and I love it - except for when they get cancelled or delayed by a few hours and so everyone packs onto one train and there's no breathing room
