Getting back into the groove after the holiday season can be hard!! Why not refresh your study space? Maybe get a new plant or new stationary that would make you excited to get stuck back in. More practically, setting a revision plan of bitesize revision that you could actually stick to may also help. Also, there are more tips here https://www.theuniguide.co.uk/advice/revision-help 🕺🏻

Hi there!

I've had a lovely holiday so I'm not looking forward to starting work again! I am looking forward to going back to Sheffield to see all my friends though.

My best tips for easing myself back in are:

Try and get back into a routine as soon as possible. I struggle to be motivated unless I have a good routine, so this is one of the main things I do. I like to make a schedule of when classes are, when I have work etc and I start to settle into a good routine which always helps.

Make some fun plans for the first week. I always find going back to uni helps if I have a couple of fun plans coming up that I can look forward to. Even if they are not big plans, just knowing I have a coffee date of shopping trip coming up helps me to settle in!

Try and get on top of work in the first week. Of course, you aren't going to start any assignments (probably) in the first week, but I like to try and write out what the assignments are at least so I feel a bit clearer about what I have to do and when the deadlines are.

I hope some of these help!

This is such an interesting question, because it can be so hard to get back to being motivated after a nice, relaxing break.

I definitely try to ease myself back into. Slow and steady wins the race. I try and do some simpler, nicer tasks to get back into the groove and I find that, once I start, it becomes easier to remember what you were doing before the break and get back into the rhythms!

But I do also LOVE the suggestion to refresh the workspace with a new plant, maybe that will become part of my tradition moving forwards ☺️🌵

Best,

Thank you for sharing.

I definitely agree with the second advice, I just submitted a really heavy assignment immediately after Christmas break and what kept me motivated was my weekend plans with my friends for after submission😃. Giving ourselves incentives after achievements can do wonders.
