Accomodation in East London

I may be attending UAL at the London College of Fashion if all goes well, and I doubt my student maintenance loan will fully cover my rent. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on more affordable accommodation options than what UAL offers? I do have some savings, and I will be working to earn more money, but any additional advice would be greatly appreciated.

Side note: I am obviously aware that London is expensive, but this is my dream uni course. I'm willing to do what it takes to make it work. Please don't send in any negative responses about how I should just study somewhere else. I want a career in fashion, and connections-wise, London is the best place to be.

Have you looked at any privately run halls - Student Roost, IQ Students, Unite Students, etc.?

Hello! I hope everything goes well and you'll be able to attend UAL at the London College of Fashion. I do have a room at Yourtribe in South Bermondsey that I will need a replacement for if you're interested. I'll happily give you more information if need be.

The price is £299 a week; however you won't have to pay per week. It's broken down into months. It has public transportation and shops walking distance from the accommodation area so you can shop/go anywhere with ease. Here are some amenities they have:

Social calendar (salsa dancing class, soundbath, and Nintendo Switch evening)

Community lifestyle

Inclusive utility bills

Free bean-to-cup coffee and other hot drinks every morning

Free breakfast twice a week

Communal kitchen cleans bi-weekly

On-site gym

Rooftop terrace

Private dining room

Karaoke room

Cinema room

Lounge Study spaces

Gaming zone (equipped with a PS5 and more)

24/7 on-site team

Let me know if you have any more questions or want more clarification! 😊

Hi @roseezn

I recently lived in East London and I found a room through Spare Room which was a lot cheaper than any student accommodation in the area.
So maybe this is something to look into?

I hope this helps and good luck 🙂 Feel free to ask questions!
