subject advice??

hii, im currently in s5 and trying to narrow down my subject choices (despite not being given my choice columns yet, i just enjoy being ahead and having things figured out sue me)

currently im taking higher art, english, history, maths, and music, and i crashed in n5 bio. i defo want to take AH art, maths and higher bio/human bio. if possible i do want to take AH music and history but i know that its highly possible i will choose between the two and i honestly have no idea what to do.

my experience with n5 music was fabulous but this year its been mixed, mainly because my n5 teacher has left for maternity leave and im being taught listening and composition in a way that just doesn't suit me. that being said i know that my n5 teacher will be returning next year however its not guaranteed that she'll be teaching the listening part of the course. so far ive been fine with teaching myself the listening part of the course but we havent done any assessments yet and prelim is next friday so i have no idea how ill actually do in practice.

on the other hand my experience with history has been great with the exception of an assessment or two during n5. the only reason why i wouldn't want to take it is because the workload seems insane. im already starting to slightly struggle to memorise everything yet we've just finished our first essay for our third unit (to be fair though i havent been revising for history as i should be. i have my prelim on the 19th and i only just started revising yesterday...). as much as im sure id be able to manage it i also feel like it is possible that i might start to fall behind.

for context im planning on applying for psychology and hoping to get into st andrews. im aware that i technically don't need any advanced highers but i do love my subjects and want to continue on with them. i also believe that doing them will actually give me the best chance possible of getting into my dream unis, most of which are top unis in scotland. grade wise im top of the class in both subjects so im not too concerned about that.

this whole deciding thing might be entirely useless based on what subjects are offered and which columns they are put in, but if i do end up having to pick between music and history i do want to be prepared. anyone have any advice?

with the amount of subjects you are doing i would say you should pick music as history is a lot of work on top of the catching up you are doing in biology

Hi.

I'm also in S5 and I've been struggling to pick between subjects too. I think that what helped me make the decision was by thinking about which one I would miss more.

Although, this might have been pointless for me because it's up in the air as to whether the one I chose will even be able to run now.
