Uni choice for Aerospace engineering

I have applied to a few unis and right now have 3 offers. UWE, Herts uni and university of lancashire. I have applied for Aerospace engineering(BEng) for all of them, except Herts which has the same course name but with space technology as the specific area.

Now Im trying to figure out what uni would be best for me. I know each of the unis will have good facilities in their own area but I'm trying to figure out which one might be the best one for me as I would like to pursue a career in rockets and space/spacecraft. Thank you for any advice you might have.

UWE has a big advantage in that Bristol is a major hub for the UK aerospace industry - Airbus, Rolls Royce etc. This will mean that UWE will have excellent industry links, top placement opportunities, and a strong graduate employment record. Bristol is also a great place to be a student. Recommended.

Hi @MCollard06,

It's great to hear that you have applied to study with aerospace engineering with us. Let me give you some more isnight into our degree. Our aerospace engineering is 2nd in the Northwest for Student Experience - Times Good University Guide (Aeronautical & Manufacturing Engineering Courses) 2026

You will have the opportunity to take a one-year industrial placement during your studies to increase your employability. Most placements are UK-based, but opportunities exist for global placements. We have a range of industry-relevant connections to give you the opportunities you need to gain practical experience. Previous placements providers include, BAE Systems, Airbus, McLaren and Rolls-Royce. You can find out more information here.

I would also suggest attending open days and offer holder days if possible as this is a great way to decide where to study. Seeing the university, campus and facilities in person allows you to get a feel for the course and university. You get to see if you can imagine yourself studying there and have the opportunity to ask any questions so that is something I would definitely keep an eye on. Open days and simple pros and cons list were the easiest way I was able to make such important decisions. Ask yourself what else do I want from the university than the degree? Is it facilities, industry links or is student support as some examples. You can also book onto a campus tour if you'd like here.

Feel free to ask if you have any questions or get in touch with our admissions via here.
Best wishes,
^Zac

Hi @MCollard06 ,

Firstly, congrats on applying! This is a big milestone, and its lovely to hear UWE is on your list.

My biggest piece of advice is, if you can, visit each university and the city/area its in. This will be your home-from-home for the foreseeable and its crucial you are happy with the environment and facilities. Also check the modules to see if any offer modules which you have a preference for.

In regards to how UWE could be the best uni for you, UWE Bristol has really strong links to the aerospace sector, helped a lot by its location in the South West, which is one of the UK’s biggest aerospace and engineering hubs. Bristol is home to major companies like Airbus, Rolls-Royce, GKN Aerospace and Leonardo, and UWE works closely with industry through placements, live projects, guest lectures and research partnerships, giving students good exposure to real-world engineering, and ultimately helping students reifne their CV for post-uni career prospects.

The Aerospace Engineering courses are professionally accredited and supported by modern facilities, including wind tunnels, flight simulators and advanced engineering labs, which are designed to reflect industry practice.

As a city, Bristol has a strong tech and engineering culture, good transport links, and plenty of opportunities for networking, internships and graduate roles, which can be a big advantage if you’re aiming for a career in aerospace, space or spacecraft engineering.

Good luck with everything, and hope to see you here soon!
