I don't know if I should study medicine

Hi, i'm 16, and for the longest time, I've wanted to study medicine. Lately, I have been doubting it though as i'm not sure if im cut out for it. I found out a few weeks ago that I got an offer from a private sixth form i applied to. I really love that school and want to go there, but since debating whether medicine is right for me, my mum has said that i can't go to that sixth form unless i want to do medicine (or something like law/ accounting). I was looking at medicine related degrees like pharmacology and cardiac physiology but my mum will only allow me to go to that sixth form if i study medicine. I dont know what to do 😭

damn an ultimatum. i'd want to vehemently disagree with "mothers being always right"; i recently argued with my mum when i told her i wanted to consider a dual french+russian degree instead of a european law one, but damn !

it's really unfair that at 16 you're being asked to commit to something as intense as medicine especially since it's difficult to turn back, but being happy where you are, in an environment that will enable you to succeed, is also really important. have you tried like talking with her? like tell her you're 99% set on medicine but wants to not make the wrong move, so you can still go. because i'd doubt if she'd remember this conversation in around 1.5 years' time when you're writing your UCAS applications

if you've got one of the tiger mum type people, though, maybe like try and show her yearly income of careers that your other degrees might lead to to show its stability and stuff
