uni of dundee dentistry

hello! im interested in studying dentistry at university, however as a scottish student, dundee is the only uni id be applying to as i dont meet the requirements for glasgow. im currently in s6, so id need to take a gap year to get my ucat done, as well as interview prep and work experience. my only issue is if its worth taking a gap year to apply to only one university, especially considering it’s dundee which ive heard is a top uni for dentistry in the uk? i achieved 4 A’s and a B at higher in s5, with my B in biology, and am currently sitting adv higher biology, and crashing three highers which includes chemistry. if anyone has had a similar experience i’d greatly appreciate some advice please, as if it’s too risky and not worth the gap year, im thinking i may as well apply to something else and potentially save my sanity lol. thanks!

Hiya, firstly well done on your highers!

I'll assume that you'll be standard entry requirements.
For the entry requirements on Dundee's website for dentistry:
Standard: AAAAB. Essential subjects:

Higher - Biology (preferably Human Biology) and Chemistry

National 5 - English and Mathematics at grade B

Highers to be in the same sitting i.e. to be achieved in the same year

We do not accept resits for this course

Offers will be conditional, based on performance at interview and three Advanced Highers/Highers taken in 6th year, normally at BBB, to include Advanced Higher Biology or Chemistry

As you are currently in S6 and crashing higher chemistry, unfortunately I don't think they'll accept your application as they require the higher qualifications to be achieved in the same year, meaning you would've need to have completed higher chemistry in S5.
I hope that helps, good luck on your application journey!
