Hi there,
One good option is research assistant (RA) work. These sometimes get advertised on your uni’s careers page, but it’s also quite common to email lecturers directly to ask if they have any projects you could help with. This can involve things like literature reviews, data handling, basic lab work, or general research admin, and it doesn’t have to be within your own school to be useful experience.
Student ambassador work is another flexible option. Some of it is in person (for example open days), but you get regular breaks and can request seated roles, such as working at information desks. Many universities also offer remote ambassador work, like answering questions on apps or forums like this, making scheduled phone calls to applicants, or writing blog posts and newsletters.
It’s also worth keeping an eye out for part-time admin roles within the university, such as in accommodation services, student services, or departmental offices. I worked in my uni’s accommodation office and found it fitted really well around my course.
Hope that helps, and good luck with the MSc!
